Artist Spotlight - Marija Tanaskovic Papadopoulos
Biography
Marija was born in Belgrade / Serbia in 1976 where she graduated from the University of Fine Arts in 2001 as a Sculptor. In 2004 she moved to Chicago with her husband where she was working in her art studio with traditional painting and sculpturing materials. Two years after, she started using modern technologies for fine art, as well.

Today she is a multimedia artist of a very wide spectrum, which covers huge array of techniques. She loves traditional ways of painting and sculpting as much as the latest computer programs for 2D and 3D design,

She works in terracotta clay and creates oil on canvas, drawings, watercolors, pastels, photography, but she, also, uses Adobe Suite and ZBrush for fine art and design.

Because of her amazing artistic results achieved, the international critics placed her among the best contemporary artists of today in many important books, mentions, exhibitions, blogs and magazines all over the world.

Artist Statement
Visual Art is all about passing energy to other people through the symbols and vibration of lines, color wavelengths, and shapes of the artwork in a space that surrounds it, while the meaning of the artwork is not only what composition actually presents, but a specific structure of that art piece, that makes a human being able to notice a beauty as a source of harmony.

Artists are navigating our thoughts, to create a new reality. Public that is observing art pieces are the triggers that spread every creation they analyzed. This means that observers are shaping the world together with the artist, by putting gradually the message of the artwork in reality, just like the sea waves are shaping stones on a coast.

So what is the shape of an art piece then? The shape of the art piece exists to transfer the energy not through physical material it is made of, but by the idea, that is hidden within its composition and shines through the information field of that artwork when it is initiated by audience observation and analyses.
