Patrizia Casagranda - Sculptural dot paintings

Patrizia Casagranda presents her impressive ‘sculptural dot paintings’ - an innovative technique that combines classical portraiture with contemporary imagery. Casagranda's artistic approach is as unconventional as it is sustainable: instead of traditional canvases, she uses recycled materials as a medium - from cardboard boxes and jute sacks to disused army tents. In an elaborate process, she applies layers of pigments in mortar and plaster mixtures, creating relief-like surfaces that oscillate between painting and sculpture.

Between icons and everyday heroines
The exhibited works not only show reinterpretations of iconic portraits of women such as the ‘Mona Lisa’, but also honour contemporary heroines of everyday life. Artist Statement

The woman with her strength, sensuality, history and charisma takes centre stage in my pictures. The power and vibrancy of my motifs are intended to captivate the viewer, to touch them emotionally, with typographic messages that tell a story, the effect of recycled materials that I bring back to life, with bright, unusual colours and an innovative three-dimensional technique.
